What is polyurethane material?

Polyurethane (PU), also known as polyurethane, is a polymer compound. This object was produced by Otto Bayer and others in 1937. Polyurethane has two main categories: polyester and polyether. They can be made into polyurethane plastic (mainly foam plastic), polyurethane fiber (called spandex in China), polyurethane rubber and elastomer. Hard polyurethane plastic is lightweight, with superior sound insulation and thermal insulation properties, chemical resistance, good electrical properties, easy processing, and low water absorption. It is mainly used as a structural material for building, automotive, aviation industry, and thermal insulation. Polyurethane elastomers have properties between plastic and rubber, including oil resistance, wear resistance, low temperature resistance, aging resistance, high hardness, and elasticity. Mainly used in the shoe industry and medical industry. Polyurethane can also be used to make adhesives, coatings, synthetic leather, etc. Polyurethane emerged in the 1930s, and after nearly 80 years of technological development, this material has been widely used in the fields of home furnishings, construction, daily necessities, transportation, household appliances, and so on.
